Waltz is probably the most widely recognized partner dance in the world. Dating back about
300 years and popular all over the world, the waltz is the "backbone" dance of the ballroom.
With its easy-to-hear 1-2-3, 1-2-3 rhythm pattern and simple box step foundation pattern, it's
also easy to learn. Waltz was one of the first dances in which a couple were allowed to touch.
To make the Waltz look proper there is a raising on the 2 and a lowering on the 3 with a reach
on the 1.
